Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) has developed so much that it is difficult to know them today

Huawei Mobile Services has been with us for years

Surely you remember that many years ago, Huawei smartphones allowed you to create and log in with a Huawei ID account, which was used primarily when downloading applications from the proprietary AppGallery app store. The platform is growing in strength and currently boasts 390 million users with active Huawei ID, of which as many as 2.4 million are in Poland. HMS is an ecosystem, because the use of Huawei ID offers a number of interesting and useful functions that are no longer limited only to a smartphone, but are also present on tablets or computers.

What is Huawei ID?

Huawei ID is a user account that is like an entry ticket to the world of Huawei Mobile Services. When setting it up, you can use any e-mail address you already have or associate your Huawei ID with your Google or Facebook account. The registration process is very simple, and its final stage is verification using a phone number and a verification code sent in the form of an SMS message. Once you've set up your Huawei ID account, you'll be able to use a range of HMS features and services, and there's a lot of it. One of the most useful is undoubtedly the synchronization between devices logged into the same account.

AppGallery, or application store

AppGallery is a proprietary application store where you will find a lot of apps from Polish and global producers. There are 6 popular banking apps as well as entertainment apps (e.g. Player, Deezer, Tidal, Ipla), travel apps (e.g. Booking, Trip, SkyCash), gastronomy (e.g. Pyszne, Bolt Food, KFC), navigation and transport (e.g. Jak Dojada, iTaxi, Bolt) or shopping (e.g. Allegro, Lidl Plus or Żappka). Huawei regularly informs about new applications that appear in the AppGallery and at the moment the catalog is very large - even if you do not find the application you are looking for there, you will almost certainly find a good replacement. AppGallery is also a whole lot of very attractive promotions, also for subscriptions in applications. So attractive that even if you normally wouldn't think of paying for a subscription, the even symbolic promotional amount will encourage you to try it. Thanks to the integration of AppGallery with Petal, even if an application is not in the store, it can be searched for and downloaded straight from the manufacturer's website or another application repository.

It is worth mentioning here that by deciding to use the banking application downloaded from AppGallery and operating on the basis of HMS, we have access to payments using the popular Polish BLIK system.

Petal Maps

HMS is also a dynamically developing Petal Maps. The provider of the maps themselves is the popular TomTom company, so you can rest assured about the accuracy of the data. Petal Maps offers the most useful navigation features, including route planning based on real traffic and information about traffic conditions on the planned route. The application allows you to easily add stops, for example for rest, basing your suggestions on, for example, suggested rest zones on the motorway. When setting the route, you can also select the means of transport in the navigation mode - the proposed route will then be adapted to it. The program also allows you to synchronize your favorite places and navigation history with the Cloud as part of Huawei ID.

You can manage your data directly from your smartphone or by logging in to cloud.huawei.com. The Huawei Cloud provides convenient access to data, regardless of what device you are currently using.

Besides, HMS is also Petal Search's personal advisor/concierge. It lets you browse the web with lots of useful tips and filters to help you search the web on your smartphone. It will help you find applications and update them, find, for example, local attractions nearby, the most interesting shopping offers, translate content into the selected language or help you check the current exchange rate and recalculate money before shopping. When using HMS, it is also worth checking the Huawei Health application, to which you can connect a smartwatch, fitness band or scale and keep track of your activity and current form.

As you can see, Huawei Mobile Services is constantly developing, growing in strength, becoming a complete platform for users of Huawei equipment. And no one even mentions that this development is going to stop anytime soon. Using HMS-based phones will certainly require a slight change in current habits, but it provides all the functionalities that users have used so far.
