The application, according to its creators, recognizes COVID-19 within two minutes from a recording of a cough, is being tested clinically in Turin in the north of Italy. According to the daily "La Repubblica", its effectiveness is estimated at 73.5 percent.

The Italian newspaper quotes the app's developers that it could replace rapid testing in the case of people with Covid-19 symptoms in the future.

It was established as part of the so-called startup in order to create the possibility of remote identification of respiratory diseases based on cough analysis.

The newspaper's interlocutors explained that the cost of such a study is around EUR 1, which could save millions.
