Apple Watch Series 7 - post-launch info, updates [11/19/2021]

In this article, we'll try to keep you up-to-date with everything you need to know about the Apple Watch 7: from design changes, to software updates, to price and release date.Apple Watch Series 7 Post Launch Updates [11/19/2021]

Apple Watch Series 7 Release Date

Following the undoubted success of the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE in late 2020, it's inevitable that we'll see them around the same time in 2021 next version.

When can we expect the latest from Apple? Each of the last four generations of smart watches launched in September:

Guided by the current premiere dates of the Cupertino giant's watches, we can confidently bet that the official announcement and market debut of the Apple Watch Series 7 will take place in the last two weeks of September this year. We can expect another virtual event, similar to the WWDC 2021 organized in June, which turned out to be a great success for the company.

It is also possible that Apple will organize one event where it will present the Apple Watch Series 7 and the iPhone 13, which is to be launched at the same time.

Apple Watch Series 7 - price

We don't know yet how much the latest Apple watches will cost, but tracking the prices of previous smartwatches on the days of their premieres may give us some clues about the amount which we will have to pay for this year's model:

It is also worth noting that the offer included different variants of each model, differing in color and materials from which the case and strap were made. For this reason, some versions were more expensive. However, we can assume that the price of this year's smartwatch will oscillate around PLN 2,000.

Let's also note that the prices of watches with an aluminum case are much lower than those with a titanium case, so when choosing a more durable material, we have to take into account the much higher price of the device.

Apple Watch Series 7 - watchOS 8

During the WWDC 2021 event, which took place on June 7, Apple announced the creation of the latest operating system to power smartwatches: watchOS 8. On the same day, the developer beta version of the latest installment was released system. It is he who will be responsible for the work of the Apple Watch Series 7.

What news can we expect? Apple decided to refine the health options. The Breath app will get a completely new look and modified animations. While you sleep, the watch will be able to track your breathing rate. The training app will get the additional ability to track tai-chi training, and Fitness+ will get a completely new series of workouts. As if that wasn't enough, the whole thing will be integrated with all Apple devices. We will be able to use the new version of the Photos application, which will allow us to create new unique faces.

As announced in June, Apple launched open beta tests of watchOS 8 yesterday. If you are curious about the system on which the Apple Watch Series 7 will work, this article will tell you how to take part in the tests.

Apple Watch Series 7 - refreshed design?

Fans of Apple devices may have felt a bit disappointed when they found out that the sixth generation of their favorite manufacturer's watches will not bring any significant changes in terms of appearance. However, even before their last year's premiere, some market analysts announced that changes would come with the next version of smartwatches, which will appear in 2021.

Jon Prosser, known for his credible leaks, claimed in May this year that the new series of smartwatches will be different from the models available on the market. Apple for the first time since 2018 is to offer a completely new design. Upcoming watches will get flat edges and a thicker case. The shape of the case is also to change and it is to be slightly more square than in previous models. On the left edge you can see the new speakers. They extend along the entire length of the envelope. On the opposite side we find the crown, microphone and a completely flat home button. Apple is to abandon the convex protective glass and replace it with a flat version.

It also looks like straps from previous Apple Watch models will be compatible with the upcoming watch. Another of the novelties announced by Jon Prosser is a new color variant. It is supposed to be a green shade already known from AirPods Max headphones.

Such leaks are also a denial of other rumors according to which Apple was preparing a watch with a round case. This is an unlikely variant, taking into account Prosser's reports and the look of watchOS 8 that Apple showed during the WWDC conference.

Another of the interesting patents filed by the manufacturer was a watch with a bendable screen entwining our wrist and overlapping the band. Although the leaked graphics look promising, such a project looks more like the melody of the future than a real idea that can be implemented in the near future.

Apple Watch Series 7 - new features

We have already described some of the new features available in the smartwatch talking about the new watchOS 8 system. What else can we expect from the Apple Watch Series 7? According to rumors emerging in recent weeks, the watch is to be equipped with a blood glucose monitor for diabetics. It would use infrared light shining through the user's skin for this function, instead of expensive test strips.

Other rumors were about the arrival of a fingerprint reader. However, we do not know where it would be: would it be built into the display or maybe placed on the side of the envelope? Of course, Apple would be able to put the reader in the screen, but this would probably result in a significant increase in the price of the device. Let us also remember that most users unlock their smartwatch only once, putting it on their wrist in the morning. We still have other ways to unlock it, so introducing an expensive technology that few users would use could be risky.

Apple pays more and more attention to taking care of the health of users and with each new generation of smartwatches adds new features that monitor our health.

Patents recently filed by Apple suggest that the company is working to improve the user's blood pressure and pulse monitoring systems. We can assume that this year we will get more accurate results from the blood oxygen reader, which in the Apple Watch Series 6 has been placed in the category of fitness functions, not health.

In the crown we will find a sensor for measuring ECG. A new health function is to be the ability to monitor blood glucose levels.

Apple Watch Series 7 - what specification can we expect?

As with every subsequent series of smartwatches, now we can also expect an improvement in the technical parameters of the watch. So we count on a faster processor, improved wireless connectivity and a new display. Last year, Apple added 5GHz Wi-Fi and a UWB chip to the Apple Watch. It is possible that this year's release will receive compatibility with Wi-Fi 6 networks. Due to the high energy demand and little practical use, there is a low probability that 5G connectivity will appear in the Apple Watch Series 7.

According to reports from Bloomberg, Apple will install a display with a new lamination method in the watch, thanks to which the screen will be closer to the protective glass. Bloomberg also reports that there will be a new second-generation ultra-wideband UWB chip, a more powerful processor, and a revised display on board.

UPDATE 07/12/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 without a fingerprint reader?

It seems that people who counted on the implementation of a fingerprint reader under the screen of Apple Watch Series 7 will have to do without taste. According to Mark Gurman in his newsletter on the Bloomberg portal, Apple does not plan to introduce Touch ID in this year's series of smart watches.

Such a solution would certainly be very convenient for users making contactless payments via the watch. It would offer an additional form of protection for transactions and our data. However, it seems that the upcoming smartwatch will not be a breakthrough in Apple's offer and we will have to wait for the return of this function.

UPDATE 08/02/2021

Problems with the availability of Apple Watch Edition

If you are thinking about buying a model from the previous generation just before the premiere of the latest line of Apple Watch Series 7 watches, you may be disappointed. Mark Gurman, in his latest newsletter, reports that many global markets, including the United States, are starting to run out of Apple Watch Edition models with a titanium case.

We doubt that this heralds an imminent reduction in the prices of watches, which currently cost close to $800. Gurman says Apple simply ran out of stock and their production ended months ago. The Cupertino giant was simply selling off what was left in its warehouses in anticipation of the launch of the Apple Watch Series 7. The high price of this version of the smartwatch also meant that Apple produced a relatively small amount of the Apple Watch Edition model.

Can we assume that the manufacturer will create watches with an aluminum case again? Considering the high price of the watch and the material used for its construction, a scenario is likely in which Apple will stop its production. The situation was similar with the previous versions of the Apple Watch Edition, which had ceramic and gold casings.

UPDATE 08/03/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 in six variants?

Interesting news comes from Europe this time, specifically from the journalists of the French portal consomac.fr. They reached the records of the Eurasian Economic Council (EEC). It was to this entity that Apple submitted an application for registration of six new devices! In the database, they appear with model numbers A2473, A2474, A2475, A2476, A2477 and A2478. We can almost be sure that these are different variants of the Apple Watch Series 7.

From the documentation in the EEC, we learn that the watchOS 8 system will be responsible for the operation of the devices. However, no information on the technical specifications of the watches has been made available. Apple usually submits its products to the EEC a few weeks before their release. So we can safely assume that the premiere of the new line of smartwatches will take place in September, as was the case with previous generations. Is Apple planning to organize one event where we will see new watches, iPhone 13 and AirPods headphones? It remains only to wait for an answer.

UPDATED August 17, 2021

New health features in Apple Watch Series 7?

Will the bands of the new Apple Watches be able to measure the level of hydration of the user's body? Recent research shows that it is very likely.

Hydration is one of the key factors in assessing the health of any person. Everything indicates that Apple smartwatches will soon be able to measure this factor as well. Apple has just been granted a patent for using the technology to conduct such measurements in its watches. Of course, the granting of the patent does not immediately mean that this technology will appear in the latest Apple Watch Series 7, or that it will appear in any Apple watches in the future. After all, it is the nature of patents and companies that more often submit them to forestall competition than to actually use them.

We will be very surprised if such a solution appears in the Apple Watch Series 7, as the patent has only just been published. However, it was submitted in March 2018. So we see that Apple has long wanted to patent the ability to monitor the level of hydration in the body of users of its watches. You can read the full patent application here.

Apple Watch Series 7 - is this what they will look like?

It seems that Jon Prosser's reports about the appearance of the Apple Watch Series 7 from a few weeks ago were true. The 91mobiles portal has published further renders of Apple watches, which were based on CAD files. So we can assume that this is what the smartwatches that will appear on the market next month will look like.

This confirms previous guesses about watch design. They will have a flat screen and a flat envelope with rounded edges. Thanks to such changes in appearance, they will come closer to the design of the iPad Pro and iPhone 12.

UPDATED August 19, 2021

Apple Watch Series 7 - What's new for runners

The closer we get to the launch of Apple Watch Series 7 and iPhone 13, the more information we get about their functionality. Apple has already accustomed us to creating applications and functions that connect various devices with the logo of a bitten apple. This time, the manufacturer has prepared the Time to run option for users of the upcoming smartwatches. It is very similar to the existing Fitness+ Time to walk subscription that the manufacturer introduced earlier this year.

The Fitness+ program is unfortunately not available in Poland. Time to walk at certain times reminds us of the need to walk and makes our time more pleasant with a broadcast that we can listen to during a walk through Bluetooth headphones. So we can assume that the new function will work in a similar way.

Such news was recently provided by Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg journalist specializing in Apple products. In the same report, we could read about another novelty, i.e. Auto Meditation. This is of course not new; many manufacturers already have similar features in their smartphones and watches. Apple itself also offers a similar solution, i.e. the Breath app. The new software is to hit the Apple Watch Series 7, but it is possible that it will also be available on iPhones.

UPDATED August 20, 2021

Apple Watch Series 7 - when will it be released?

Most previous reports have suggested that Apple plans to unveil the latest smartwatches alongside its other devices such as the iPhone 13 and the ninth generation iPad in September. The most likely date was September 14, which was Friday. If we follow the dates of the premieres of previous generations of Apple Watches, we will see that in previous years each of the premieres took place on this day of the week.

The latest information from the DigiTimes portal, however, suggests that Apple plans to organize at least two events dedicated to individual devices debuting on the market. Both would take place in September, so Apple would have a very tight schedule to accommodate the organization of each and ensure timely deliveries of products to stores. The scenario presented by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg seems a bit more likely. The journalist suggests that, following the example of last year, Apple will spread the premieres of its new products over several months.

It seems that we should be calm about the release date of the Apple Watch Series 7 watches. We still assume that it will be September 14 or 21, although of course we have to wait for official information from the Cupertino giant on this matter. It is also worth noting that while DigiTimes is usually right about the supply and production of Apple devices, the accuracy of their predictions in other matters is not so high.

UPDATED August 25, 2021

Apple Watch Series 7 with a larger case?

The amount of information that appears on the web allows us to assume that there is really little time left until the premiere of the Apple Watch Series 7 watches.

The latest leak suggests that the new design is not the only change waiting for new watches. According to a leak on the Chinese social network Weibo, quoted by frontpagetech.com, Apple plans to launch watches in two sizes: 41 mm and 45 mm. If this leak turns out to be true, it will mean that Apple is slightly increasing the size of its smartwatches for another year in a row. Last year's models are 40 mm and 44 mm.

From the same leak, we also learn that the Cupertino giant wants to make the transition to new watches easier for Apple Watch Series 6 owners. If you have special wristbands, we have good news for you. Apple will guarantee that the bands from the previous generation will be compatible with the upcoming watches.

Unlock Apple Watch with a blow!

Soon we will be able to unlock and control our watch by blowing on it?

At this point, Apple allows us to start the smartwatch by touch, gesture, or voice command. But what to do when both hands are occupied and we need to remain silent? It seems that Apple is planning to prepare an option adapted to this situation as well.

In the patent that was granted to the company, Apple included the ability to unlock the watch by blowing towards it. The US Patent Office has accepted an application titled "Blow event detection and mode switching with an electronic device". Blowing on the watch could unlock it and serve as confirmation of specific actions, such as answering an incoming call.

The patent describes how this would be possible. It assumes the installation of a small sensor, partially hidden under the housing, which would be able to register the change in pressure caused by the movement of air. The system would also be able to distinguish between a puff and normal air movement resulting from a hand movement. The patent also includes information that the user could unlock the watch by a series of blows at a certain time to exclude its accidental unlocking.

Will this solution be included in the Apple Watch Series 7, which is to premiere next month? This seems unlikely. However, it is worth following the development of this technology in terms of future Apple devices.

UPDATED August 27, 2021

New size of Apple Watch Series 7 confirmed?

More photos have appeared on the web that seem to confirm previous leaks regarding the size of Apple Watch Series 7. You can see them below:

According to my source, Apple has started mass production of the new Apple Watch Series 7 bands. The size mentioned are 41 and 45mm which should be identical in size to the previous models #Apple #AppleInternal pic.twitter.com/cadcaCK324

- Majin Bu ???? (@MajinBuOfficial) August 26, 2021

According to a Twitter user who also recently posted photos of the Rose Gold iPhone 13, Apple has started mass production of bands for upcoming watches. So it looks like the manufacturer will increase the size of this year's series of smartwatches. This is not a big surprise, because the Cupertino giant regularly slightly enlarges its watches. Recall that the Apple Watch Series 6 was available in 40mm and 44mm sizes. This year it will be 41 mm and 45 mm. Another of the photos, which was published on the Chinese social network Weibo, allegedly shows us the strap of the larger of the watches, on which the relevant information about its size was placed:

The quality of the photo leaves much to be desired, but the information provided coincides with previous leaks regarding changes in size, design and display in Apple Watch Series 7. The photo appeared on the profile of Uncle Pan.

UPDATED August 28, 2021

Apple Watch Series 7 now available! Almost...

Could the latest Apple Watch Series 7 have somehow already been available?

Such revelations were made yesterday by one of the Twitter users, Majin Bu. On his profile there are photos of smartwatches that look identical to Apple products, whose renderings and graphics we have been observing for months. You can see them by following this link.

Complementing this message is a video recorded while unpacking these watches. We can quickly conclude that these are only replicas that appeared on the Chinese market in the amount of 350-400 yuan, or about PLN 210-240. Their resemblance to the Apple Watch Series 7, however, is striking. You can see the video of the watches below:

Apple Watch Series 7Copycat products pic.twitter.com/bXN375XUcI

- DuanRui (@duanrui1205) August 27, 2021

Such materials can mean two things: either the creators of these replica Apple smartwatches had their sources that confirm the appearance of the watches, or they created them based on existing renders and they may also turn out to be inconsistent with what Apple plans to present to us. We will probably know the answer to this question on September 14.

UPDATE 08/30/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 on new graphics

Further graphics presenting the more and more awaited by fans of the Apple watch appeared on the web.

This time the concept art was created by phonearena.com. The portal's journalists created them based on the information available so far, CAD files and other renders that presented the expected appearance of Apple Watch Series 7. You can see the other concepts below:

The creators point out that these are only conceptual graphics that may differ from how the latest Apple smartwatches will look in reality. However, they drew attention to the planned changes in the appearance of the watches compared to their previous editions, i.e. a flat display and bringing their appearance closer to other products of the giant from Cupertino.

Whether or not they were right, we'll probably find out soon. The premiere of Apple Watch Series 7 is to take place on September 17, so from that moment we are less than three weeks away. Only then will it turn out whether the speculations that have been going on for months will turn out to be true or whether Apple will shock us with something else.

UPDATE 09/02/2021

The premiere of Apple Watch Series 7 in jeopardy?

For a long time it has been said that Apple plans to present a new watch to the world in just over two weeks, on September 17. According to these assumptions, the implementation of pre-orders is to start at the end of this month.

The latest news, however, suggests otherwise. The data presented by Nikkei Asia and Bloomberg say that the delivery dates of new smartwatches may be postponed. Why?

From a certain point of view, we can say that Apple is to blame as well. Potential delays in pre-orders may be due to some problems that factory workers encountered just after the start of production of new watches. It appears that due to changes in the construction and design of the Apple Watch Series 7, employees have encountered critical issues that prevent them from achieving a satisfactory production rate.

While the release date seems safe, delivery times for orders may change. Perhaps Apple will be able to cover the first pre-release purchases, but if production does not quickly reach a satisfactory pace, subsequent buyers may have to be patient and wait a little longer for their new smartwatches.

UPDATE 03/09/2021

Apple Watch will not measure blood pressure until next year?

We have already informed you that this year's edition of Apple Watch Series 7 watches will not have the ability to measure users' blood pressure. Such information that appeared on the web was denied by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg. Journalists from the Wall Street Journal also speak in a similar tone.

From their recent article on Apple Watch news, we learn that yes, Apple plans to implement such a solution in its smartwatches, but we will have to wait until at least next year. Future editions of the Apple Watch will also receive improvements in sleep trackers and sensors that monitor irregular heartbeats. The Cupertino giant also wants them to be able to detect low blood oxygen levels and even diagnose diabetes and its symptoms in the future.

So we can expect that in the coming years Apple will provide Apple Watch users with even more functions that care for our health. Much attention is paid to this by the same CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, who claims that it will be "the greatest contribution to humanity" on the part of the company.

UPDATE 04/09/2021

Bigger size, bigger screen and more information?

Everything indicates that this year's Apple Watch Series 7 will give the user even more information than before.

From the latest report by Mark Gurman, we learn that the new Apple Watches will have much higher resolution than before. A Bloomerg journalist showed us this difference on the example of a larger variant of the smartwatch. We already know that it will grow: the length of the case will increase from 44 to 45 mm. Thanks to this treatment, the diagonal of the display will increase from 1.78 inches to 1.9 inches, and this in turn will enable an even higher resolution: 396 x 484 pixels. Compared to the Apple Watch Series 6 (368 x 448 px), this is an increase of as much as 16 percent!

This procedure will allow more information to be displayed and the use of new dials and screens that will contain more information than in previous editions of Apple watches.

UPDATE 06/09/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 Limited Availability at Launch?

In his latest newsletter, Mark Gurman speculates on a potential solution to Apple Watch Series 7 production issues.

According to a Bloomberg journalist, the most likely scenario is the one in which Apple will present the latest smartwatches as planned, i.e. at the same event where the world will see the iPhone 13. However, he expects that the availability of some versions of the watches will be very limited right away after the premiere and during the pre-sale period.

What other options are there? One is that Apple will hold off on Apple Watch Series 7 announcements until production issues are resolved. The second option assumes that the Cupertino giant will present the watches as planned, but the date of their sale will be postponed.

Regardless of the solution that Apple chooses, we must reckon with the fact that it will be difficult for us to buy the latest smartwatches in September. If you are counting on buying them, you have to arm yourself with a lot of patience and wait for the situation to stabilize, or count on a stroke of luck right after the sale opens.

UPDATE 08/09/2021

The premiere of Apple Watch Series 7 on September 14?

Apple yesterday unveiled the first cards regarding the company's plans for the fall of this year.

On the official website of the manufacturer, we can see information about California Streaming. This will be Apple's next virtual event, similar to WWDC, which took place in June this year.

If all the predictions so far turn out to be true, we expect that during the California Streaming Apple will officially present the latest iPhone 13 line and the Apple Watch Series 7. If we follow the release dates of previous generations of watches, it seems more than likely:

The announcement of a new smartwatch on September 14 seems possible. We can hope that within a few days there will be confirmation of this information. It is also possible to present the fans with the base version of the ninth generation iPad and AirPods 3 headphones. It is also more than certain that Apple is planning at least one more event this fall, so it is possible that the premiere of these products may take place at a different date.

California Streaming will take place on September 14 at 19 Polish time. We will be able to follow it directly on the manufacturer's website and in the Apple TV application.

UPDATED September 10, 2021

Apple Watch Series 7 production issues resolved. What about the premiere?

News are coming in about Apple's upcoming smartwatches.

According to his earlier speculations, Mark Gurman suggests that the premiere of the watches is not in danger. So we should expect their presentation at California Streaming on September 14. Problems may not arise until later.

According to a journalist from Bloomberg, Apple expects shortages in resources right after the premiere. Therefore, it will decide to limit the availability of some watch variants. Others will be launched a bit later. The journalist so far does not specify which models it may be referring to.

In turn, good news is provided by another of Apple's recognized analysts, Kuo Ming-Chi. According to his latest reports, Apple has dealt with problems in the production of new smartwatches. From now on, it should run at an optimal pace. However, it seems unlikely that this will affect the change of plans mentioned by Mark Gurman.

UPDATED September 11, 2021

Apple Watch will measure our temperature?

Kuo Ming-Chi, a well-known analyst of the activities of the giant from Cupertino, gives us such news.

In his opinion, the next versions of Apple smartwatches will be able to measure our body temperature. However, it does not specify how the whole process would take place. The bad news, however, is that this solution will certainly not appear in the Apple Watch Series 7, from which we are days away. So we have to wait at least until 2022.

Everything indicates that this year Apple focused on changing the design of its product, providing us with a small number of new functions. However, this is set to change next year and we can expect the Apple Watch Series 8 to introduce many new health solutions not seen before in smartwatches.

UPDATED September 13, 2021

Premiere of Apple Watch 7 not in danger?

Kuo Ming-Chi joins the group of journalists reassuring people waiting for the premiere of the latest Apple smartwatches. According to an analyst of Apple's actions on the market, the premiere of the Apple Watch Series 7 is not threatened. Everything indicates that tomorrow the new watch model will be presented next to the iPhone 13 and AirPods 3 headphones.

Everything also indicates that the solution to the production problems, which was also recently reported by Kuo, took place at the perfect time. If the information provided by him confirms that customers who pre-order watches can expect timely delivery of their purchase, or count on only minor delays.

UPDATED September 14, 2021

Apple Watch Series 7 Launches Today! How to watch?

All the information so far suggests that the premiere of new Apple smartwatches will take place today. It is to take place during the virtual California Streaming conference, which will be broadcast straight from Apple Park in Cupertino.

How to track an event? We can do this in several different ways. First of all, we can do it on the manufacturer's website, i.e. apple.com. A few hours before the start of the event, a special link will be made available directing us to the broadcast. Another option is to watch California Streaming on the official Apple channel on YouTube in a browser, or in dedicated applications in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. People using AirPlay and Apple TV will also be able to watch the event in these applications.

We expect Apple to unveil the new iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, #AirPods 3#, and the base tenth-generation iPad today. The event will start at 7 p.m. local time.

UPDATED September 15, 2021

It was supposed to be a revolution, it ended only with evolution.

This is how we can briefly describe yesterday's event, during which the giant from Cupertino presented its new products for the coming months. The manufacturer introduced us to the new iPhone 13 smartphone line, the new iPad base model and the Apple Watch Series 7 watches.

For months we speculated about their appearance, which was supposed to be a big revolution that Apple hasn't made in years. And after yesterday's presentation, we can see that again it did not decide to make drastic changes in appearance, and instead we received only cosmetic fixes.

The case of the new watches is thinner, they have received new sizes: 41 mm and 45 mm, but the characteristic shape with rounded frames has still been preserved. Leaks appearing for months, which were confirmed by a large number of market observers, turned out to be untrue. The information regarding the size of the screen has also been confirmed: it is nearly 20 percent larger than that of the Apple Watch Series 6.

Information on the availability and prices of new devices will be provided soon.

UPDATED September 16, 2021

When will the Apple Watch Series 7 go on sale?

Everything indicates that we will have to wait a little longer for the next generation of Apple smartwatches.

While during California Streaming we heard a lot of information about new possibilities and a slightly changed appearance of the watches, we missed this one key information. Apple employees have not told us when we will be able to purchase the Apple Watch Series 7.

We've only received vague information that the watches will hit the market this fall. However, we have not heard when exactly this will happen, or what the exact prices of individual models and variants will be. We only know that the cheapest of them will cost $ 399. So we can assume that prices in Poland will start from around PLN 2,000. So they will be comparable to the Apple Watch Series 6.

We expect to hear more about them in the coming weeks.

UPDATED September 17, 2021

Here's What's New for Apple Watch Series 7

During the California Streaming, Apple employees gave a lot of attention to the new features and variants of the Apple Watch Series 7 coming to the market this fall.

This year's watches will be made of three different materials. The aluminum models will be available in five colors: midnight, starlight, green, blue and (PRODUCT) Red. Those made of stainless steel will receive three variants: silver, graphite and gold. The manufacturer has also prepared two models with a titanium housing in two colors: natural titanium and space black. The offer is also completed by two watches produced together with Nike and three variants of more luxurious watches, which were created in cooperation with Hermes Paris. For the latter, three handmade bands in red, gold and blue will be available.

The Apple Watch Series 7 display has grown by nearly 20 percent over its predecessor. The frames around it have decreased by nearly 40 percent: now they measure only 1.7 mm. This made it possible to place a QWERTY keyboard on it and increase the amount of information displayed by half. The new Apple Watch will also help track cyclists' training and detect when the user falls or stops.

New possibilities await in the Photos app. Apple will also add the ability to help us meditate as part of the Mindfulness program. Many new exercises will also be available in the Fitness+ application, which unfortunately is not yet available in Poland.

Apple Watch Series 7 is to be more durable. It is certified with WR50 water resistance and IPX6 dust resistance. The display is protected by a thicker layer of glass. Charging will take 33 percent less time.

UPDATED Sep 20, 2021

Why do we still know so little about the Apple Watch Series 7?

Although it's been almost a week since California Streaming, our knowledge base on the new Apple smartwatches has not increased in any way.

The manufacturer has still not made the technical specifications public on its official website, nor has it given us a specific date for the market debut of these devices.

According to Marek Gurman, this is directly related to the problems in the production of watches, which were talked about shortly before the premiere. Despite the fact that later reports suggested that they were resolved, they significantly influenced the fact that at the moment, i.e. after the official premiere of the watches, we do not know anything more about them than what was said during the California Streaming .

A Bloomberg journalist is confident that a new flat bezel watch design is still under consideration by Apple and expects it to appear in the next generation of Apple Watch. In his opinion, Apple wants to unify the appearance of its products, so bringing the appearance of the Apple Watch closer to the iPhone and iPad seems inevitable.

UPDATED Sep 24, 2021

What is the Apple Watch Series 7 hiding from us?

Journalists of the MacRumors portal have reached interesting notes in the certification documentation of the latest Apple smartwatch.

The watch appeared in the databases of the FCC, i.e. the Federal Communications Commission. It turns out that the Apple Watch Series 7 will enable 60.5 GHz wireless data transmission. There is a catch to this, however. This functionality will not be made available to users. At least not right away. For now, it will probably only be used for Apple's internal needs.

Documentation suggests that such a connection will only be possible if the watch is placed in a dock capable of transmitting data at the same frequency. So it is possible that it will be used by Apple employees to service and repair watches.

Recall that the Cupertino giant has still not given us a specific date for the market debut of Apple Watch Series 7 or the exact technical specification of the device.

Apple Watch Series 7 will charge faster?

Apple has been using the MagSafe charger to charge its smartwatches since the launch of the Apple Watch Series 1 in 2015.

Despite recent reports about the decisions of the European Commission, which wants to standardize the charging ports and fast charging technology of devices sold in the European Union, there is no indication that Apple plans to adapt to this in the near future directive. Additionally, it looks like the manufacturer will still be able to use the MagSafe charger for its watch, as smartwatches are not covered by this directive.

So we can expect that Apple will not change the method of charging the Apple Watch Series 7, whose premiere is still awaited. In addition, Mark Gurman informs that thanks to improved technology, we will be able to charge it faster than previous models.

UPDATE 09/30/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 will be more expensive than its predecessors

People waiting for the latest Apple smartwatches must arm themselves with a large dose of patience

The Cupertino giant has still not given us any details about the technical specifications, release date or even the price of this year's watches.

We learn about the latter, however, from leaks, this time from Japan. As we expected, the Apple Watch Series 7 will cost more than the previous generation watches, but this difference will be small.

The basic Apple Watch Series 7 Cellular in size 41 mm is expected to cost 60,800 yen, or about PLN 2,170. For the larger model, residents of Japan will pay 64,800 yen, which is just over PLN 2,300. Nike models will cost the same. Stainless steel watches are more expensive. A 41 mm watch will cost less than three thousand zlotys (82,800 yen), and a 45 mm watch will cost more than three thousand zlotys (88,800 yen).

Of course, prices may vary by region. In addition, this information comes from a leak, not from an official Apple announcement. So, they are subject to change until release.

Apple Watch Series 7 to buy in October?

The latest leaks suggest that the moment of appearance of the new Apple Watch Series 7 on store shelves is closer than we thought.

After Apple gave us almost no specifics during the presentation of this year's smartwatches, which took place during California Streaming, we assumed that we would have to wait a long time to buy them. The Cupertino giant has informed us that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be available "this fall". This way of putting the matter in September allowed to assume that the waiting period would be quite long.

It turns out, however, that it can happen much faster. Journalists of the frontpagetech.com portal reached the correspondence of the fashion company Hermes Paris, i.e. Apple's partner. The date October 8 appeared in several messages. Pre-sales of new devices are to start on this day. According to Jon Prosser, the open sale will start on October 15.

UPDATE 10/04/2021

The first Apple Watch Series 7 appear before the premiere?

Photos of devices that are deceptively similar to the product presented a few weeks ago by Apple have appeared on the web.

They were published in a group on Facebook that brings together lovers of Apple watches. The author of the post claimed to be an employee of the company that received one of the watches for testing before their official debut. However, the post was deleted very quickly.

We are unable to verify the authenticity of these photos, but the device shown in them has narrow bezels around the screen, which are supposed to be a characteristic element of the Apple Watch Series 7. We also see the QWERTY keyboard announced by Apple.

If you believe the leaks that appeared last week, the pre-sale of new Apple smartwatches is to start this Friday, October 8.

UPDATE 05/10/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 pre-orders this week!

Yesterday, Apple positively surprised people waiting for the Apple Watch Series 7.

The manufacturer has announced that the pre-sale of this year's line of smartwatches will start this week, specifically on Friday, October 8! A week later, on October 15, they are to go on sale. Pre-orders will also be shipped that day.

Of course, we can't just deliver good news. The bad news is that the manufacturer may have a very limited amount of new devices. According to leaks, their production began only last month. This means that buying one of the Apple Watch Series 7 in the days (weeks?) after the launch can be problematic. We can expect that they will disappear from store shelves very soon, as is currently the case with the iPhone 13.

In separate materials, we will also inform you about the prices and availability of individual Apple Watch Series 7 models in Polish stores.

UPDATE 07/10/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 already available?

The official pre-sale of the new Apple smartwatches is not expected to start until tomorrow. Fortunately, in many Polish electronics stores we can already find a list of available devices.

The manufacturer decided that the day before the launch of orders, it will give those willing to buy Apple Watch Series 7 the opportunity to thoroughly familiarize themselves with their capabilities and available variants. At the moment, we can not yet make a purchase, or find out about the price of individual variants. It will only be possible tomorrow.

If you want to buy an Apple Watch Series 7, you need to prepare yourself for problems getting one within the first few weeks of opening the sale. The number of available models is to be very limited.

UPDATE 08.10.2021

Pre-sales for Apple Watch Series 7 start today!

Pre-sales for new Apple smartwatches will be launched today at 2 p.m. local time.

This is good news for people waiting to buy a new watch. Another good news is that if the information from the leaks is confirmed, we will pay exactly the same for this year's models as for the Apple Watch Series 6. We can also get acquainted with the offer of some Polish electronics stores now.

The bad news, however, is that most of the available models will probably disappear in a few moments after the pre-sale opens. If this does not happen, we expect that the waiting time for their delivery may be significantly extended.

UPDATED 10/09/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 officially! Where to order?

Since yesterday we can already order one of the latest Apple smartwatches.

On October 8, the presale of Apple Watch Series 7 officially began. The manufacturer finally revealed the official prices for individual models. Unfortunately, we will not buy a watch with a titanium case at the moment. We do not know if this is due to production delays or if the manufacturer will not release this variant on the Polish market. We also know in which stores you can place an order. Unfortunately, the delivery time for most orders is four to five weeks.

UPDATE 10/11/2021

Apple starts shipping smartwatches?

We can pre-order the Apple Watch Series 7 from Friday. In the vast majority of cases, however, the waiting time for a new watch was four to five weeks.

There were, of course, the lucky ones who managed to make a reservation at the earliest. They should receive their new devices on the day of the start of open sales, i.e. on Friday, October 15.

Some of them have also already received notifications that the manufacturer has started the process of delivering the Apple Watch Series 7. At the moment, they are being passed on to shipping companies that have received instructions not to deliver packages before October 15. However, this gives them time to prepare properly and deliver the first orders on October 15.

UPDATED 10/14/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 without diagnostic port!

Some time ago we informed you that this year's Apple Watch models will have a wireless communication module capable of transmitting up to 60.5 GHz. We also informed you that it will only be used by Apple employees at service points.

The latest information provided by the MacRumors portal shows that this will be the only form of communication that Apple employees will have access to. The giant from Cupertino decided to remove the diagnostic port this year, which until now was placed under the place for attaching the band.

So it seems that Apple is thinking more and more seriously about switching to wireless connectivity in its devices. Perhaps the recent decision of the European Commission will make the manufacturer abandon Lightning cables in iPhones in favor of wireless charging.

Let's remind you that the Apple Watch Series 7 will go on sale tomorrow. Unfortunately, we expect their availability to be very limited.

See how big the Apple Watch Series 7 display is!

Until yesterday, there was an embrago related to the publication of materials regarding this year's Apple smartwatches. We can already see many reviews and comparisons of the Apple Watch Series 7 to older models.

The biggest changes to this year's watches are size. We are talking about both the size of the case and the display itself. Recall that smartwatches have grown by 1 mm compared to last year: from 40 to 41 mm and from 44 to 45 mm. The frames around the display have also decreased, so now it can display much more information. Take a look at the line-up in the picture below:

this comparison between the Apple Watch Series 7 (left) and Series 6 (right) really shows off the bezel changes. Subtle but noticeable https://t.co/erF0pTpRCd pic.twitter.com/FKSYmWBG4J

—Tom Warren (@tomwarren) October 14, 2021

Apple assured us that since last year the display has grown by more than 20 percent and the bezels have decreased by 40 percent. These changes are extremely visible when we put the Apple Watch Series 7 and Series 6 side by side.

UPDATE 10/15/2021

The open sale of Apple Watch Series 7 has started!

From today we can buy Apple Watch Series 7. The latest Apple devices have been offered by many Polish electronics stores.

As we have assumed over the past few weeks, many models have limited availability. Some of the Polish stores have sufficient stock to be able to sell most of the available models right now, but for some we have to take into account the extended waiting time for delivery, which can be up to several weeks. In extreme cases, Apple Watch Series 7 watches may be unavailable for several months!

We will constantly monitor the availability of smartwatches in popular electronics stores. You will be kept informed about it in this article.

Have a MagSafe Duo charger? It won't charge your Apple Watch Series 7!

MagSafe Duo chargers can inductively charge your iPhone and Apple Watch simultaneously. However, it turns out that the charger is not compatible with the latest Apple smartwatch!

MagSafe Duo was presented last year on the occasion of the premiere of the iPhone 12. The device costs over PLN 500 in Polish stores. The first users began to report the incompatibility of the wireless charger with Apple Watch Series 7 watches. The announced increased charging speed of the smartwatch is therefore impossible in this case. Why?

Both devices support different charging standards. This state of affairs has already been confirmed by Apple itself, which openly said that a special USB cable will be needed to fast charge the Apple Watch Series 7. It is possible that the giant from Cupertino will decide to launch a new version of the MagSafe Duo in the future, which will be compatible with Series 7 watches. However, this will be another, quite significant expense for users of Apple products.

UPDATE 10/19/2021

Apple fixes first bugs in Apple Watch Series 7

From the very first day Apple started pre-ordering, users encountered issues with the Apple Watch Series 7 working properly. which the icons of some applications were not displayed on the smartwatch screen.

Weirdly, this only affects the Apple Watch Series 7 running watchOS 8. Previous generations of watches bypassed this issue. To fix this error, users can manually delete the app and download it again.

Now, however, it turns out that Apple is working on a solution to the problem, thanks to which one simple change will remove defects from the watches, without the need for interference from the owner of the smartwatch. Apple wants to force all programs downloaded from the App Store to automatically re-download and install on the device. In addition, a message will appear next to the applications in the App Store that the manufacturer has updated the program to work properly on the Apple Watch Series 7.

UPDATED 10/22/2021

Apple Watch Series 7 was delayed by the display?

Almost a month, fans of Apple products had to wait for the opportunity to buy this year's Apple Watch Series 7. The manufacturer announced them in the first half of September during California Streaming, but only pre-sales began in October.

However, it wasn't long after the orders were filled to the moment when the first reviewers began to disassemble the new watches to look for changes in the design that could become a potential cause of all the fuss around the premiere of the smartwatch. An interesting material appeared on the iFixit Youtube channel, which sheds a little more light on the whole incident. The host of the program hosted one of the former Apple engineers. During the analysis, he pointed to the display as the main culprit of delays.

Compared to last year's smartwatch, its design has been significantly changed, which affected the difficulties encountered during production. These, in turn, caused a temporary stop and a slowdown in the production of Series 7 watches. You can see the whole material here.

UPDATE 10/26/2021

watchOS 8.1 is now available. What's new in the update?

Yesterday at 7 p.m. local time, Apple released a number of software updates for its products. From Monday, users can download the following versions: iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1, tvOS 15.1 and macOS 12 Monterey.

What changes does watchOS 8.1 bring to our smartwatches? The manufacturer has improved the algorithms responsible for the fall detection during training and the ability to manually turn it on only during training (AppleWatch 4 and newer). Our watch will also display the vaccination card directly in Apple Wallet. The last of the news fix the Always On option. Some users were unable to see the time when their wrist was down (Apple Watch Series 5 and later). This issue has already been resolved.

How can Apple Watch owners download watchOS 8.1? On our iPhone, launch the Watch app, enter General and Updates respectively. Remember that the watch must be connected to the charger and have a battery charged to at least 50 percent.

UPDATED November 4, 2021

It's all the fault of the display?

Everything indicates that the new display was the main reason for the delay of this year's Apple Watch Series 7.

Recall that quite unexpectedly the latest Apple smartwatches did not go on sale immediately after their presentation during the California Streaming event in September. Customers had to wait for a month to be able to place their first orders. It was an unprecedented effort by Apple to launch its new product in this way.

Now we can hear another opinion pointing to the watch display as the main culprit in this state of affairs. This time, the voice comes from a high-ranking Apple employee, Stan Ng, who said that the company faced a big challenge to design a larger display, put it under a thicker layer of glass, with only a slight increase in the overall dimensions of the watch and no negative impact on the rest of the components. Apple Watch Series 7 has the largest display in the history of Apple smartwatches. In addition, the frames around it have decreased by about 40 percent.

Also, Alan Dye, Apple's vice president of interface, claims that the manufacturer had to redesign most of the interface elements known from previous years. Hundreds of small changes have been implemented to improve the user experience when using the Apple Watch Series 7.

UPDATED November 19, 2021

What's new in watchOS 8.1.1?

Apple today released another update to its latest operating system for its smartwatches: watchOS 8.1.1.

The manufacturer focused on one of the biggest problems of Apple Watch Series 7 owners. We are talking about the very slow charging of this device. The update released today fixes this bug. It is worth remembering that it is dedicated only to Series 7 watches. All older models will still work under watchOS 1.1.

To install the update, go to the Watch app > General > iPhone updates. In order to install the system, the watch must be charged to at least 50%, charge and be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iPhone.
