Does the iPhone 13 mini take the same photos and videos as the iPhone 13?Comparison

iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 mini?Which is better?

Secondly, I decided to approach this comparison a little differently.I made most of the iPhone 13 mini photos in standard mode, and with iPhone 13 in live mode.Such a comparison makes sense, because both the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 can turn on the same color profiles and get identical effects.Photos with a standard profile from the iPhone 13 Mini can as well represent what photos with the same profile look, taken using the iPhone 13.

This does not affect detail, noise, white balance, exhibition length, or optical features. It only affects color saturation and to some extent also on contrast.Color modes are simply a different interpretation of the same output signal from the photosensitive sensor. These are not filters that would reduce image quality.

We start with night photos. Both the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 have a night mode in which you can manually extend the exposure time. This is a very useful option, thanks to which you can achieve smaller noise (longer exposure means lower ISO sensitivity here). Both phones have identical sensors and bright f/1.6 lenses, as well as the same, very effective optical stabilization with Pixel Shift technology.Below you can assess the results.

All photos were taken from the hand, without a tripod, handle and support. The goal was to check the optical image stabilization.

In the first photo, both phones were on the same color mode - standard. The photo from the iPhone is a bit brighter, which is a bit strange, because both phones set the same exposure time (2 seconds), but the iPhone 13 Mini activated the higher ISO sensitivity (800 instead of 640), so theoretically this photo should be brighter. But it is not.

I took more photos in the evening in the park.Already after sunset, but not yet in total darkness. It is worth emphasizing, however, that for the human eye it was much darker here.

Here, in a smaller model, the colors were turned on as standard, and in a greater alive. However, you can see a similar difference in clarity as in the case of the previous comparison, where the standard color profile was active in both models.

Look below at the tree on the right side of the frame, from the ultra -rococuine camera. In the iPhone 13 mini in the standard profile you can see a little more leaves. You can see less in the live profile with the iPhone 13, but the sky is more saturated. The difference is due to the contrast - it is higher in live mode, so the bright parts of the image are lighter and dark are darker. In my opinion, night mode in the city is better in combination with a live profile, and the standard profile is better when photographing nature.

And by the way the same place, but from the basic camera. Here, of course, the overall quality and detail are much higher than from the ultra -velocity apparatus.

In my opinion, both phones take almost identical photos at night, especially in terms of overall quality and detail.Differences in contrast and saturation are visible depending on what color profile we turn on, but of course they can be turned on both the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini.Optical stabilization works just as well on both smartphones.

Let's get to compare daylight photos. Here, the differences in quality, detail and excession are even smaller than at night. It can be safely assumed that the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini take the same photos during the day.Of course, the following examples present two different color profiles: alive in the iPhone 13 and standard in the iPhone 13 mini.

In my opinion, in addition to the differences in color saturation, resulting from the use of other color modes, daytime photos present the same quality in terms of sharpness, detail, noise and optical features.

I also assess the usefulness of both phones in terms of portrait photos.Front and rear cameras have the same sharpness, skin tone and are also good at background effects.

Finally, the issue of 4K 60 fps movies at the front and back remains. In this matter, the iPhone 13 mini is exactly the same as the iPhone 13. It has the same quality, resolution, liquidity, sharpness, sound quality, phenomenal optical stabilization and very good HDR Dolby Vision (which can be fully appreciated only on OLED displays with Dolby Vision). In the camera settings you will find the option to automatically lower the number of frames per second when recording video in poor light. Then each cage exposes much longer (instead of 1/60 seconds, up to 1/24 s).

The first movie is from the iPhone 13, the second with iPhone 13 mini.Rate yourself or you can see the difference.

iPhone 13 has a better battery than the iPhone 13 mini

A larger battery is important when photographing and filming. In this respect, the iPhone 13 is better than the iPhone 13 mini.We will record longer video materials with it and take many more photos. How much more?It depends on the method of photography, the frequency of taking photos, the brightness of the display, the length of exposure, resolution, temperature and several other factors. However, you can be sure that the iPhone 13 will make more movies and photos from the iPhone 13 Mini.

iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro?Who has a better camera?

The new iPhone 13 Pro has a lighter lens in the main apparatus at the back (f/1.5 instead of 1/1.6), as well as a photosensitive sensor with slightly larger pixels (Sony IMX703 instead of Sony IMX603).Thanks to this, it works even better at night and in gently lit interiors. Here the difference is noticeable, but it certainly is not a gulf.

However, in the case of the rear ultra -angle lens, one can already talk about this gap.It uses not only a much larger sensor that catches more light, but also applied to it a larger and lighter lens (f/1.8 instead of f/2.4).This is already a very serious difference, which translates in real terms in a much better quality of photos in poor light. The ultra -angle lens also has autofocus, so you can take macro photos (i.e. from a very close range).

In addition, Phone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max have a third rear camera with a telephoto lens (3x optical zoom).Cheaper iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini are not equipped with it.In addition to enlarging the image, it can also be used to take portrait photos.

This is still not the end.Lidar also has at the back to create quite precise and advanced depth maps, which can be applied from the camera, obtaining 3D objects. They can also record movies in a modern Prores format (from a model with a memory of 256 GB up).

In a word: the iPhone 13 Pro has much greater photographic capabilities and is a better choice for demanding users. The new iPhone 13 Pro is better for photos and videos than iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini.
