I switched from the iPhone 11 Pro to the iPhone 13 Pro - here are 5 main differences

Switching to a newer smartphone always generates a lot of emotions in my case. You know, a gadget lover and a new gadget. This year, not that there were no emotions, but there were fewer of them. Here are 5 differences that I noticed as part of the first impressions between the 11th generation and the current 13th generation of the latest iPhone.I switched from iPhone 11 Pro to iPhone 13 Pro - here are 5 main differences

For some reason, Apple decided to move away from the pattern of releasing completely new smartphones every other year. You can look for reasons for this in the context of marketing. Well, at the end of each year, they now show another number, which means raising expectations in the context of numerous novelties on the part of customers.

The problem is that there are new products, but not enough for the latest model to get a separate number, or rather deserve a poor S designation. The old truth says that if you don't know why, it's probably about money and it's not much different here.

iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 11?

Personally, I usually switch every other generation of a smartphone, mainly due to battery durability issues. In the case of the iPhone 11 Pro, surprisingly, there were not many problems with it, but more and more often it did not last the whole day, especially if I used it a bit more excessively. I would like to emphasize that every day on my phone I do nothing more than a few calls, dozens of messages on Messenger and a pinch of social media.

Or maybe I just want to justify buying a new smartphone? I do not deny it, so it can be 😉 As a result, I ended up with the iPhone 13 Pro, which, let's be honest, did not bring many changes. However, after these few days, I managed to find the main differences that I hope will help iPhone 11 owners decide whether it is worth waiting for something newer or not.

1. A larger screen.

The larger screen area is actually the first thing that catches the eye when the iPhone 13 Pro comes into our hands. Of course, it was not a surprise, because I expected a thorough change, and I must admit, I waited a bit for it. My wife is the owner of the iPhone 12 and I looked at the size of her screen with a slightly jealous eye, and thus - certainly a bit more comfort of work.

It might seem that 0.3 inches is really not much, but it is. It turns out that such a small difference changes a lot. The comfort of work is definitely greater, and, taking into account the cost of a slightly larger phone package, it is a small price that I agree to without hesitation.

We also have the notch size issue worth mentioning. But I would be lying if I said that it was a change that I noticed right away or that it affected my work with the smartphone in any way.

2. Refreshing the screen.

I'm not sure if the name for this point is correct or how appropriate, but the way to work with the screen is different, much smoother.

Of course, I'm referring here to the 120-hertz screen, which is supposed to work in a dynamic way, as it turns out, so far only for native iOS applications. However, page scrolling in Safari is a huge difference compared to how it was done on the iPhone 11 Pro. This works noticeably better.

3. Photos and Night Shift.

It is also different in the case of cameras, and more precisely - the quality of photos. The difference is huge, which I will probably present to you in a separate article that is being prepared.

For me, one of the most interesting differences that I noticed when taking pictures is the support for Night Shift. In the iPhone 13 Pro, we have support for this function on each of the three lenses, not only on the default one as in the iPhone 11 Pro. The difference in the comfort of use is huge. After all, the smartphone illuminates the photos regardless of the lens.

Below is a set of illustrative photos. The effect is really great and in principle, I can safely say that this is one of the things that I really like about the new iPhone, because it has great usability.

4. MagSafe.

Another thing - MagSafe. Neither new nor fresh, but this is my first contact with this technology. It was presented in the current edition with the appearance of iPhones marked with the number 12. Thus, it is a function not available for the iPhone 11.

I decided to try my hand at MagSafe - the function works and is quite convenient. No more searching for a power cord before going to bed. Of course, it's a bit of a sparrow cannon, but it is there, it works and it's a function that has some potential. I do not think it concerns the quality of the charging itself, because we have known this mechanism for years, but perhaps in the context of additional accessories that are already on the market. It's Apple after all.

5. Protruding camera island.

There is one more difference - the size of the camera island. Sounds ridiculous? Really. Of course, it's about the element on the back of the smartphone on which the camera lenses are placed. Already in the iPhone 11 Pro they were quite strange and not very comfortable, especially when I did not use any case. Asymmetry meant that the phone did not lie perfectly on the desk, table or at least in the car. The case solved that problem. This is, of course, a harmless little thing, but it is worth noting.

In the iPhone 13 Pro, the island has been definitely enlarged due to larger and even more protruding lenses. Interestingly, this time the case does not solve the problem of asymmetry, because the island protrudes so much that it did not manage to sink into the packaging itself, but it protrudes slightly above the outline of the back of the smartphone.

What else?

I believe that eventually there will be a video section here, but I haven't had the courage to evaluate this feature in my first impressions, because there simply wasn't time to enjoy all the video news take a look. Photos, on the other hand, are excellent, and Night Shift gives you really new possibilities. Despite everything, however, I still believe that the iPhone 13 Pro, and basically the entire line, should be honestly called the iPhone 12s.
