iOS 15 - 10 news that we should see on the iPhone in autumn 2021 [06/08/2021]

Apple introduces new development versions of its operating systems to the market every year. In June, the next major releases of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS are presented at the WWDC conference. Later, during the holidays, developers test new software and have time to prepare updated versions of their applications. During this time, Apple engineers correct the errors found and constantly refine the software. iOS 15 - 10 nowości, które powinniśmy zobaczy w iPhone jesienią 2021 [08.06.2021]

In autumn, new versions of the systems are delivered to recipients and are used by them for about a year.

We got quite a few features in the last year. The most important of them is the widget support and the classic application drawer. It is worth adding that iOS 14 is under development all the time. The software will not be withdrawn from the market until fall this year. Until then, we will get a few more new features before the debut of iOS 15. iOS 14 will include the ability to unlock Apple Watch and new privacy options.

Looking ahead, we are already expecting iOS 15. The new major release of the iPhone operating system will be extremely important for several reasons.

Below is a list of features that should appear in the next version of the iOS operating system.

New lock screen

The lock screen on iOS hasn't changed much over the years. Users can't even change application shortcuts. Apple proposes a Camera and a flashlight. On the lock screen, we will check the device status, check the date and time, and see the latest notifications.

There is no question of supporting third-party widgets. When playing multimedia, we can use a solution prepared by Apple.

We expect a new lock screen in iOS 15. This solution will be integrated with another novelty - Always-on-Display mode.

We would like the lock screen to be integrated with widgets or to show at least information about the weather.

Apple should also rebuild the notification stack, which is poor at displaying a lot of information. Currently, iOS notifications are extremely chaotic.

Always-on-Display

The iPhone 13, which will debut in September 2021, will offer the Always-On-Display mode. For the first time in history, the iPhone will receive an unwavering Retina screen that will keep you informed of the latest notifications and the time.

Unfortunately, Apple is going to approach the topic in its own way and not provide constant information about notifications on the Always-on-Display screen. Incoming notifications will be signaled for a while and then go to the notification center.

Apple could move the Always-on-Display screen from Apple Watch. They display an identical dial and convey a lot of information. iPhone 13 could constantly display a simplified form of a modified lock screen.

Improved app drawer

The implementation of the app drawer in iOS 14 is far from perfect. By default, Apple groups applications by type of application, and getting to the classic alphabetical list is quite unintuitive.

Hopefully, Apple will allow you to turn off auto-grouping of apps, which instead of making it easier to find the app you're looking for makes the process more difficult.

In iOS 15 there should be a function to launch the drawer with applications bypassing the default view of applications sorted by their type.

Weather

The Weather app has been with us as it stands since the debut of iOS 7 in 2013. Over the course of 8 years, this program has grown old quite a bit. Apple shows only the most important information, and clicking on the details automatically takes you to The Weather Channel website from which Apple obtains weather data.

We hope that the new weather app arrives in iOS 14 and offers more adaptability and personalization and a refreshed look. The new version should allow integration with early warning systems for sudden changes in weather conditions.

Apple could also refresh the weather widget that is displayed on the lock screen in the morning.

Home screen and refreshed interface

Last year, Apple thoroughly refreshed the macOS interface. We expect a new design to arrive this year on iOS, a design that hasn't changed much since iOS 7 launched in 2013.

Certainly, we will not receive radical changes in terms of the appearance and the way of interacting with the system, but a slight refreshment of the appearance along with the adaptation of the interface to the currently sold iPhone models would be welcome.

On-screen keyboard with numeric block

Apple phones have been growing for years, and iOS still doesn't allow a numeric keypad to appear above the classic QWERTY keyboard. We hope that Apple will finally fix this shortcoming and add another row of characters that will make entering numbers a lot easier.

Currently, the system keyboard from Apple does not allow the simultaneous display of the QWERTY keyboard and the numeric block. For this we need to install an external keyboard.

Default applications

With the update to iOS 14, Apple allowed us a bit more freedom. The company made it possible to change the default e-mail and web browser applications.

The voice assistant has also been updated. Siri asks which music app to choose to play the searched song.

Hopefully, Apple will allow more of the default app to be changed in iOS 15. We would like to give up the default music or calendar application. A nice change would be the ability to change your default photo app.

A smarter voice assistant in more languages

Siri is the first intelligent voice assistant. This year, this solution will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Unfortunately, the voice assistant from Apple performs worse than the Google Assistant. It is not about the lack of Polish language support, but fewer functions and problems with understanding.

We hope Siri will catch up with the competition this year. We are also counting on more languages. Will Apple's voice assistant finally speak Polish?

Improved privacy options

iOS 15 will certainly introduce more options in the field of privacy protection. Apple has received high marks for the security of its operating system for years.

Apple continues to fight privacy violations, which has resulted in the introduction of camera and microphone usage tags and disclosure of what privacy data applications from the App Store collect.

The Cupertino giant is also constantly fighting against user tracking ads and password theft.

Two-factor verification

iOS 14 allows you to automatically copy two-factor verification codes with a single click. This is a big change thanks to which we no longer have to jump between applications.

Unfortunately, two-factor verification using SMS is not the safest solution. We hope that Apple will build its own API that will send verification codes using the iCloud account. In addition, the programming API would integrate applications such as Authy, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator with the iOS system.

Users of these programs would no longer need to manually copy authentication codes.

What models will iOS 15 receive?

Wondering if your iPhone is receiving the update to iOS 15? Fortunately, we have good news. The new version of the operating system will hit a lot of Apple devices.

Below you will find a list of smartphones that should be updated to iOS 15.

UPDATE 5/26/2021

A lot of new and interesting information about iOS 15 has hit the network. It turns out that Apple is preparing a few more interesting functions for us. What solutions are we talking about?

iOS 15 - Built-in calorie counter and meal tracking

Apple strongly focuses on health functions. Apple Watch watches perfectly follow our physical activity and heart parameters. Sleep monitoring has also emerged recently. Now Apple smartphones can get another health option. The iOS 15 operating system may introduce a solution to track meals eaten.

The feature, called Food Tracking, first appeared on May 25, 2021 in a Twitter post by Connor Jewiss.

When I said I'd seen some iOS 15, I'm not going to disappoint: ◼️- Dark Mode UI tweaks ???? - Messages app tweaks ???? - Food tracking and other new features in Health ???? - Confirmation of UI changes from previous screenshot rumor ???? - New notification settings and look on lockscreen

- Connor Jewiss (@connorjewiss) May 25, 2021

The solution should work similarly to the applications that are already available in the App Store. I am talking about MyFitnessPal and Fitatu, among others. IPhone users will be able to scan food QR codes to count calories. The whole thing will help to record our meals and normalize the daily rhythm of eating food.

The solution from Apple will also contain tips that will allow you to eat healthier and choose the optimal times for eating meals.

Food Tracking will be integrated with the Zdrowie application, which is pre-installed on every Apple smartphone.

Connor Jewiss also announced that iOS 15 will receive an improved dark mode, changes to the Messages app, a new lock screen design and a modified notification system.

UPDATE 02/06/2021

There is a week left to the start of the WWDC 2021 conference. What do we know about iOS 15?

Over the past few days, we have learned from many sources that smartphones using the Apple A9 processor will not receive an update. I am talking about the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE (first generation) models.

Recent leaks suggest that Apple will heavily rebuild the iMessage application. This solution will still be compatible only with Apple devices, but despite this, the manufacturer wants to compete with WhatsApp, whose reputation has recently been slightly tarnished.

We also heard about the rebuilt settings. This application has not been updated since the launch of iOS 7 in 2013. Unfortunately, we do not have any detailed information about the new settings at the moment.

There will certainly be new accessibility options. Apple will add background sounds to calm and minimize the risk of distraction for people with neurotic disorders. There will also be new AssestiveTouch features. They will allow for contactless operation of the telephone. This solution will also go to Apple Watch.

IPad tablets will receive an eyeball tracking feature. There will also be new options for personalizing Memoji and customizing sounds. Apple should also add more options for resizing text and scaling the user interface.

UPDATE 06/08/2021

On June 7, 2021, Apple officially introduced the iOS 15 operating system. Unfortunately, the software is very disappointing. Apple decided not to implement most of the functions we expected. iOS 15 is just a minor upgrade with a few new features that won't be essential for most users. The only positive thing is that iOS 15 will be available on all devices that currently work under iOS 14. This means that we will install iOS 15 even on the six-year-old iPhone 6s model.

What news will finally appear in iOS 15?

FaceTime

FaceTime will finally be available for Android devices and Windows computers. In addition, the SharePlay function has appeared, which allows you to share the screen or watch videos together.

There will also be support for Spatial Audio - surround sound.

The solution has been integrated with the calendar, and links to conversations can be shared using popular instant messengers.

Messages

The Messages apps have also been rebuilt. It was given the option of sharing for a given user and sharing in applications. Apple also decided to group all photos sent in a given conversation.

Focus mode

Focus mode is to allow you to maintain an appropriate balance between work and private life. By default, we will get two modes that will mute notifications from selected applications that are not used at work or after it. Additionally, the user can freely create his own schedules.

New notification screen

Apple has also prepared a new notification screen, but again this is not the solution we have been waiting for. The appearance of notifications has been slightly modified and summaries have been created that are displayed about specific times of the day - in the morning before work or in the afternoon after work.

Refreshed Maps

The giant from Cupertino refreshed the Map icon. In the application itself, we will also find new, more accurate maps, but we will only use them in the United States. This is one of the many news that does not appear in Poland.

Brand new Safari

We will definitely use a completely new Safari browser. The address bar has gone down, there are new gestures and the ability to group cards. Interestingly, Apple decided to add positive extensions that we know from Safari for Mac computers.

You can find a detailed list of new products in our report from the WWDC 2021 conference.
