Microsoft OneDrive instead of Samsung Cloud, but only for photos and videos

In August this year, Samsung and Microsoft announced a strategic partnership.

The first effect is the OneDrive cloud, which replaces the existing Samsung Cloud in the backups of our photos and videos. First, the new feature was made available for the Galaxy Note10, Note10 + and Galaxy S10 devices participating in the One UI 2 Beta software tests.

The press office of the Polish branch confirmed the resignation from our own cloud for photos and videos: Samsung and Microsoft have been cooperating for years, offering consumers even greater opportunities to use new technologies. Starting with the Galaxy Note10 model, Microsoft solutions will be even better integrated into the Galaxy ecosystem. Samsung Gallery now offers the ability to sync with Microsoft OneDrive. Thanks to this, users can access photos and videos on their other devices. They also don't have to worry about whether they've made a backup recently.

After installing the appropriate update, users will receive a message in the system's Gallery application, which will encourage them to turn on the backup of photos and videos using the OneDrive cloud. If we agree to enable it, the migration process from Samsung Cloud account to OneDrive will begin. We can also start the migration from the Samsung Cloud account settings.

Other items such as phone backup (phone, messages, contacts, clock, settings, etc.) will still be done via Samsung Cloud. Only our photos and videos will be transferred to OneDrive.

To be able to use the OneDrive service, we must have:

The OneDrive cloud sync function will be made available in stages for subsequent phone models.

People who use the paid Samsung Cloud plan will receive the same plan under the new OneDrive service.
