Polsat SuperHit Festival: Doda dances with Tomasz Barański

On June 26 at the Forest Opera in Sopot, the Italian group Maneskin - the winners of this year's Eurovision - performed as a special guest of the Polsat SuperHit Festival.

In an interview with Polsat News, they emphasized that they often hear that they "do not sound Italian".

- We often hear that we don't sound "Italian". This is one of the main reasons why we started taking part in song contests. In our country, you can play rock, you don't have to write classic ballads, although - at first - the music industry did not take us seriously - they said.

Many in the industry have tried to stop them.

- They said, "Rock'n'roll isn't mainstream, nobody's going to play it on the radio." We fought and now we are very happy. We wanted to show a different side of Italian music.

Who makes Maneskin?

Maneskin is made up of vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi and drummer Ethan Torchio.

The band was founded in 2016 by four school friends. The name meaning "moonlight" in Danish was suggested by Victoria, who is half Danish.

They took their first steps playing on the streets, including in the very center of historic Rome, for example on Via Del Corso, one of the most famous streets of the capital of Italy.

Just a year later, the band appeared in the 11th edition of the TV show "X Factor", where they took second place. The debut EP "Chosen" brought m.in. the title single plus a set of covers performed on TV. The material in the homeland went platinum.
