Xiaomi 11T Pro review - stunning charging for everyone

Observing the actions of Xiaomi on the mobile market, I get the impression that the company wants to fit the tastes of each user. The number of variants and series of smartphones is astonishing, but the manufacturer has not yet said the last word. Following this line of reasoning, the Xiaomi 11 series was created. It is immediately worth noting that the tested Xiaomi 11T Pro is the first device after rebranding - from now there will be no word "Mi" in the names of smartphones. This is a minor change, which I assess positively, as it simplifies the naming. The Xiaomi 11T Pro is a stronger representative of the series, the 11T model is equipped with a weaker MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G processor and slower loading.

Appearance and first impressions

Xiaomi is constantly experimenting with the design of its devices and almost every series differs in some aspects. In the case of the 11T Pro we get a fairly rectangular shape, but I evaluate the overall appearance as bland. The device does not stand out with anything special, and is also large and slippery. The whole thing resembles the Mi 11i, the back is made of brushed aluminum imitating plastic with a glossy coating. The camera island has two planes where 3 lenses come to the fore. The front is characterized by quite narrow and almost even frames - that's a plus. In the middle there is a small hole for the selfie camera. The screen is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus glass, the upper edge is flat and there is a microphone and a loudspeaker signed with the harman / kardon logo. There is no notification LED, but there is an infrared port to control home electronics. The slightly rounded edges (the aluminum frame) hide the fingerprint scanner located on the right side just below the volume buttons. Its positioning is convenient, but this aspect depends a lot on the size of the hand. In my case, the thumb fit perfectly on the scanner when I took the device in my right hand. I cannot complain about its accuracy or speed. Works as it should. Interestingly, the lower edge is slightly rounded as opposed to the upper one. We find here a second loudspeaker, a SIM card drawer (2x nanoSIM) and a USB-C socket. 204 grams of weight and 76.9 mm of width make the equipment not compact. It is worth taking this into account when choosing this model, I regret that Xiaomi did not offer IP68 waterproofing here, as in the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. We only receive the IP53 certificate indicating that the smartphone is dust and splash resistant.

Impressive 120Hz AMOLED screen

Xiaomi saved on a few elements when designing the 11T Pro model, but it was definitely not a screen. The 120 Hz AMOLED panel used in conjunction with good speakers supporting Dolby Atmos makes it an ideal smartphone for watching multimedia. The 6.67 inch AMOLED screen supporting Dolby Vision is one of the strongest elements of this device. We get a refresh of 120 Hz and compliance with HDR10 +. The user can manually select the refreshing 60 Hz which positively affects the battery life or 120 Hz which is adaptive.

Performance and connectivity

Xiaomi focused on the top specification with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G (5 nm) processor at the fore. We also get 8 GB or 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. There are two capacitive variants of UFS 3.1 memory on sale: 128 GB and 256 GB. There were also the latest and even obligatory communication standards, such as 5G, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6. The performance of a smartphone with such a powerful processor is exemplary. Not surprisingly, the interface runs smoothly and your applications launch in no time. I noticed slight slowdowns when using Xiaomi dynamic wallpapers. Performance can only be said with good words, as opposed to the generated temperatures. All I had to do was run the Roblox game for a dozen or so minutes, and the housing was getting unpleasantly warm around the cameras. The measurement showed 38 ° C outside the case. Unfortunately, in this case, the Snapdragon 888 shows itself once again from the wrong side.

Battery - Xiaomi Black Horse

Xiaomi 11T Pro is promoted as a smartphone with amazing charging speed, and it actually is. The included 120W power supply looks like a laptop charger and works incredibly fast. Charging HyperCharge with a power of 120 W means that the phone is fully charged in about 20 minutes. We could only dream about such a result recently! The 5000mAh battery is divided into two separate modules that charge simultaneously. Thanks to this, neither the phone nor the charger overheat when refilling energy. I was concerned that the Snapdragon 888 would negatively affect battery life similar to the OnePlus 9 Pro, but luckily Xiaomi managed to optimize the software accordingly. During the tests, I was able to use the phone for a day and a half without any problems, but in fact, fast charging made me stop paying attention to the battery status.

Android 11 with MIUI 12.5

Out of the box we get Android 11 with MIUI 12.5. As promised by the manufacturer, smartphones from the Xiaomi 11T series will get extended access to the latest features and security. Users will be able to download patches related to the security of these devices for up to 4 years and can count on updates of three generations of the Android system. MIUI 12 is already a well-known software very different from "pure" Android. The manufacturer has implemented many convenient solutions, and if you have not used Xiaomi before, you just have to get used to them. The attention is drawn to beautiful dynamic wallpapers or the ability to adjust the effects of the Always-on Display.

Triple camera with 108MP main sensor

The photographic possibilities of the Xiaomi 11T Pro are not surprising - we get a triple camera known from other models with a 108 MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 lens, a telemacro 5MP Samsung S5K5E9 2x and an ultra-wide 120 ° Sony IMX355. The selfie camera is based on the OmniVision OV16A1 16-megapixel sensor. The main camera saves 12MP photos by default, and the quality is not disappointing. Of course, this is not a flagship level, but the 11T Pro can easily compete among devices up to PLN 3,000. The photos are detailed enough with good colors and adequate contrast. Unfortunately, some shots may seem a bit artificial due to the strong sharpening mechanism. However, it all depends on the conditions. You can also take shots in 108MP quality, but they will get the right quality only after lowering the resolution.

Photos captured by the 120 ° ultra wide-angle lens lose a bit of sharpness and brightness, and there is also a lack of detail in the shadows. Nevertheless, this is still an acceptable level for daily snapping.

And in the application we can also find the telephoto counterpart in the form of 2x zoom. The approximation is done digitally, however, here are the effects:

As in the smartphones from the Mi 11 series, the macro mode is also great here. Although it has been hidden a bit, because to run it you have to expand the top menu. Super macro allows you to capture really interesting frames.

The main camera of the Xiaomi 11T Pro offers 8K recording at 30fps, as well as 4K and 1080p at 30 and 60fps. The ultra wide angle lens only works at 1080p at 30fps. Pictures in original quality, as always, can be found on our Google drive.

Like a clone, but something new

Xiaomi 11T Pro impresses above all with great multimedia possibilities due to a beautiful screen and good stereo speakers. It also impresses with the charging of HyperCharge, which takes this aspect to a new level. It is enough to connect the charger for literally a few minutes to replenish the battery by several dozen percent. Amazing! We have a nice set of cameras at our disposal, but remember that this is not a flagship level and it lacks, for example, a telephoto lens or optical image stabilization. Disappointing is the lack of waterproofness, as well as the high temperatures of the housing under heavy load. On the other hand, the smartphone is very efficient, supports the latest communication standards, the software does not cause problems, and in addition we get the manufacturer's assurance about long Android support. If you are looking for a large smartphone with a good screen and a strong battery, the 11T Pro may be for you. Polish prices for Xiaomi 11T Pro: Finally, it is worth mentioning that by purchasing the Xiaomi 11T Pro in advance on October 6-17, we will get the Mi Robot Vacuum Essential smart vacuum cleaner for free.
