iOS 15: How to Create Your Own Focus Mode on iPhone

The ever faster pace of life means that we often forget that we can focus on various things, not only on work. There is a new focus mode feature in iOS that gives you great opportunities to personalize your iPhone. The focus mode allows you to break away from the digital world and focus on everything important, including your loved ones.

The focus mode in iOS 15 allows users to create custom iPhone work modes where only certain apps and people can be allowed to contact. Additionally, the focus modes allow you to personalize the home screen to some extent. Thanks to this, by turning on the selected mode, you can focus on what is really important at the moment.

In addition to a few predefined focus modes, iOS 15 allows you to create your own. And here the user is limited only by his own ingenuity. You can prepare your own mode for many situations such as a weekend trip or sports training. What's more, these modes can easily run automatically, so we can pay more attention to ourselves, and not to the use of the phone.

In this guide, I'll show you how to create weekend mode on an iPhone. Of course, this is only an example, so everyone can choose the applications they need during a weekend trip or vacation.

Step 1 - we clean up the applications

For starters, you need to clean up the apps on your home screen. Of course, everyone has their own habits, but to make the creation of the weekend mode more meaningful, it is worth gathering applications useful for traveling on one screen. In my case, these are all applications for the purchase of train or bus tickets (BILKOM, Flixbus, etc.), transport (Free Now, Bolt, Uber, etc.), for booking hotels, ordering food (the perfect and fastest way when you want to quickly review menus in many restaurants you don't know at all). I don't use all these applications every day, I can safely have their icons on the hidden tab of the home screen and, if necessary, run them through Spotlight or the application library. It is different during the trip, when I use them very often and I want to have them at hand.

Step 2 - we create the weekend focus mode

You can easily create a new focus mode on your iPhone by following the steps below:

To create a new focus mode:

Open the Settings app, then tap Focus Mode. Now tap on the [+] icon shown in the top right corner of the screen. On the What you want to focus on screen, select Custom.

In the next tab, enter the name of the focus mode [weekend], or you can choose the color and the icon displayed on the screen, then tap Next. On the next tab, in the Allowed people section, tap the + sign, and then select the people from Contacts from whom you want to receive notifications. You can choose as many people as you want, but you should limit yourself to the really important ones. Otherwise, creating such a profile no longer makes sense. After selecting contacts, tap OK and then Allow

Now let's move on to the application. On the next tab, in the Allowed applications section, tap the + sign, and then from the list of applications select those from which you want to receive notifications. As with Contacts, you can select as many applications as you want. However, it is worthwhile to think carefully about your choice. Consider only all notifications that will disturb your leisure: work e-mail, instant messaging or social media. However, do not forget to turn on what is important, such as notifications from banking applications, private calendar and travel planners. After selecting the application, tap OK and then Allow. Initial setup is complete.

Step 3 - Select specific home screen pages for the weekend focus mode

As previously mentioned, the focus modes in iOS 15 allow you to choose the pages of your home screen. This makes it easy to hide work app pages and display those for travel apps. You can do this by following these steps.

Open the Settings app, then tap Focus Mode. Select Weekend here. Then tap on the home screen option. Now turn on the switch for custom pages and select the pages you want to display when Weekend mode is on.

How do I turn on the Weekend focus mode?

Open Control Center and tap the Focus button. Select Weekend from the list. The Weekend icon will appear in the status bar when the profile is enabled.
