Lists of Atheists 3.0 School is a problem for all of us

School is a problem for all of us, says Łukasz Turski, professor of physical sciences, popularizer of science and publicist. * In his opinion, and probably not only his, the only wealth that communities have in the 21st century is what is in people's heads. If we do not want to become an intellectual black hole when the next phase of technological change begins, in which machines or robots will deal with "digging ditches", we must understand how important science, education and education are. Therefore, the professor asks that everyone today, tomorrow thought 15 minutes about what school is for and why it is a problem for all of us.

Meanwhile, a strike referendum is underway in Polish schools. The fate of the teachers' strike, the beginning of which is scheduled for Monday, April 8, 2019, is being decided. The strike is to last until further notice. The referendum will end on March 25, and for a strike to occur, at least half of the workers in half of the institutions must support it. According to the unofficial data of the PNA, the decision to strike has already been made. If a strike occurs, it will start two days before the junior high school exam.

The teachers are demanding a PLN 1,000 pay rise. And they rightly deserve this increase. They belong to the most pauperized professional groups. At the same time, they are under the obligation to furnish the heads of our children. Teachers have long been morned and deceived by all kinds of promises. It was argued that there was no money - in our common - budget to raise their salaries even to the level of the national average. However, when there was 40 billion for the election sausage, the goblet of bitterness was overflowing.

The government started its old, well-known game. First, wait. Then, to appeal to a sense of mission, embarrassment and blackmail. The head of the PNA is presented on the cover of a right-wing magazine as a terrorist with a rifle, taking children hostage. PiS politicians humiliate teachers with advice like: you can reproduce, you will get 500+. Deceptive statements that teachers earn almost as much as ministers, contemptuous statements that if they do not like them, they can look for another, better-paid job. Parents' teachers and other professional groups are traditionally attacked.

The authorities had long hoped that the matter would spread to the bones. Somehow it will be, but there is no indication that the matter will go away. Teachers are supported by local government officials, who also suffered from the deformation of education. Even trade unionists from the pro-Polish Solidarity movement started to protest. Although here one should be careful, because it is not known what role they actually intend to play. Supporting, or the horse of the Trojan regime. And the regime shows hard contempt for teachers.

Professor Turski appeals to all of us to stand on the teachers' side. That we do it in our own best interest. Everyone has to respond to this appeal for himself. On your own account and on your own responsibility. Before making a decision, however, it is worth answering two basic questions: What does the authority say to us by its actions? What do we say, we will tell with our actions? In a word, what is this conversation about, or rather playing on the phone .

The authorities say that: • It does not take the work of teachers, doctors, nurses seriously and does not intend to reward it fairly by forcing it to be performed almost on a voluntary basis, blackmailing the so-called mission or vocation; mainly women work, treatment, care; • She does not care about an educated society, because it is easier to govern and manipulate the "dark people"; when, who to give. Therefore, she will not talk to teachers.

On the side of teachers, we can tell the authorities that: • Democracy is not a fairy tale and we should negotiate with teachers and not only with them; • We are emotionally mature enough to understand the importance of the distant goal of building a good education; • We are socially mature enough, to fight for the rights of social groups to which we do not belong directly • Civil society will not allow itself to be gagged.

Not only middle school students are facing the exam. The whole society is facing it, and we still have three weeks to prepare well for this exam. May we pass it.
