The ECG function for Samsung watches is already in Poland. Galaxy Watch3 will also measure blood pressure

Samsung announced some time ago that it will expand the functions of the blood pressure monitor and ECG in its Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Watch Active2 watches to new countries. Our editorial Galaxy Watch3 has just updated.

When Samsung presented its latest watches from the Galaxy Watch3 series, it boasted that you can use them to check your heart using the EKG function, as well as measure your blood pressure. Several months have passed since then, but the announced functions have finally reached Poland. You can also use them for Galaxy Watch Active2 watches.

To use the pressure measurement and ECG functions, the watch software must be updated to the latest version. It brings some new features, including the Samsung Health Monitor app to support these functions.

The next step should be to install the Samsung Health Monitor app on the phone that is paired with the watch. All you need to do is press the button in the application on the watch, and then confirm the installation on the phone. After the first start-up, you still need to calibrate the blood pressure measurement function, which will be useful for a "medical" blood pressure monitor. The application will guide us step by step and tell us what to do. It is about three times, more or less simultaneous taking pressure measurements with both devices (watch and pressure gauge) and entering the results from the pressure gauge into the application. After that, the watch itself and a little patience are enough for the measurement - during the measurements you cannot move or speak.

The ECG measurement also requires initial configuration in the application on the phone, where, among other things, we specify the hand on which we wear the watch. The measurement itself takes 30 seconds and while conducting it, the finger of the other hand should be placed on the top button of the watch. When everything goes correctly, we will get a result - information whether there is atrial fibrillation in the reading. We will also get a record of the heart rate in the form of a graph.

When using the new features of Samsung watches, we will see warnings at every step that measurements made with these tools should not be treated in the same way as medical advice. So if someone suffers from hypertension and the application shows that their blood pressure is normal, consult a doctor before stopping medication.
