The new Motorola owes its name to the display, on both sides of the almost 90 degrees, spilling on the side edges.

This solution is nothing new.Managed to appear together with Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, be copied by many rivals and finally managed to be abandoned by Samsung, who in the latest Galaxy S20 decided to completely flatten the screens, which met with general approval.

Motorola risked a lot, deciding to a solution from which the leading manufacturer just turned - and for a reason.Curved screens are usually only trouble. The curvature interferes with everyday use.It is easy to accidentally touch something by grabbing the phone in the hand. Not to mention the fact that the curved screen of the phone becomes mercilessly slippery and much more susceptible to screen damage than in the case of flat displays.

What is the situation with Motorola Edge?Well, it looks phenomenal.Visually, the Motorola Edge screen looks absolutely phenomenal. This is a 6.7 "OLED panel, FHD+resolution, HDR support and 90 Hz with refresh rate.In addition, the display has an unusual proportions of 21: 9, which I personally consider to be its great advantage.

Motorola Edge is not a small smartphone, but thanks to the 21: 9 screen it is very easy to hold it in your hand and navigate it after the interface. When you put Motorola Edge next to the iPhone 11, it turns out that although the iPhone has a smaller screen (6.1 "), it is wider than the Motorola panel and Motorola is more convenient. Not to mention the fact that with Motorola Edge the iPhone 11 screen looks amazingly poor ...

Amazingly, the curvature of the screen was also well thought out from the usable side."Edge" in Motorola Edge is not only for show.

First of all - I meet for the first time with such excellent resistance to accidental touch.Even in OnePlus 8 Pro or last year's Galaxy S10+ screen curvature reacted to touching the interior of the hand. This is not the case here, and the curved edge has never been interrupted by the phone's handling.

What's more, Motorola has found several ways to use the edge creative. One of them is an auxiliary shortcut panel, where we can display up to six icons leading to applications, tools or favorite contacts.I admit honestly - I usually turn off such panels because they are annoying and enter the road with everyday use. Here, however, the panel sliding button is so cleverly hidden on the edge that you can even forget that it is there.

Another edge function is backlight. When the phone lies down the screen (which I do not recommend), the edges will highlight to let you know about the notification.

The edges can also highlight during the incoming connection and during the alarm operation. After all, there is also my favorite function, i.e. edge backlight during charging.Depending on the degree of charge.Bajer, but a nice bajer.

The edges can also be used in games, where after turning the phone to the horizontal orientation on the upper edge virtual triggers will be displayed.

Zakrzywiona nie tylko na pokaz. Motorola Edge - pierwsze wrażenia

After all, the edge can also be turned off ....It is enough to quickly twice the edge to turn off their operation in selected applications. If, for example,.We do not want the video to overlap, you can turn off the edge and get a flat image.

These ochy and achy do not mean, however, that curved edges in Motorola Edge are the perfect solution. On the contrary, I think the phone could do without them and it would not lose much.Meanwhile, the use of the edge loses a lot.First of all, Motorola Edge is very difficult to hold in your hand. The metal frame is so thin that there is really nothing to grab for.

I am also afraid of the life of the edge, because having experience with other phones with a similar curvature I know that this element likes to draw the most.So it would be useful to be a decent case and I hope that Motorola will make sure that there are slightly more solid and elegant cases than a piece of silicone attached to the set.

I will add to my comfort that for such a large phone, Motorola Edge seems to be much lighter than it indicates the mass of 188 g.The construction is also perfectly balanced, so despite the slippery edges, the phone does not try to slip out of our hands constantly.A nice accent is the characteristic, notched screen lock button. This is a trifle, used by Motorola from probably 2013., but in everyday use it is extremely useful.

Motorola makes the best android.

Together with Motorola Edge, a new version of the Motorola overlay, named My UX.

At first glance, it has not changed at all in relation to the current variation of Motorola about Android. And yet it introduces some very important news, thanks to which Motorola came out in my private ranking of overlay even in front of OnePlus.

First of all, we can now adjust the appearance of the system directly from the settings.Motorola came the motives, but they are not candy, indulgence motifs we know from other smartphones.Motorola approached the topic in a slightly more ... sophisticated way?We can change the font, type of icons and the leading color of the theme. Zmiany są na tyle subtelne, że nawet wybierając róż jako kolor wiodący nie rzygniemy tęczą dostaniemy oczopląsu.

The second change is the introduction of the game mode, which works similarly to other smartphones.Redirects the computing power of the smartphone to current gameplay and can also block notifications and calls coming during the game.

Always-on Display, which now works well with a pretty good fingerprint reader, has also changed slightly.Motorola does the best mode.

Just touch the notification icons on the subdued screen to view them, and also to react to them with one pull of your finger. This means that we do not have to unlock the screen to do anything with notification. And if you want to go from notification directly to the application, just hold your finger longer and drag it down to the fingerprint reader. It works really great.

AOD is a part of Moto add -ons, which, as usual, do not disappoint.Just twice the wrist twice to start the camera.Wave your hand twice to turn on the flashlight. They even enjoy small things such as the animation of a multifunctional widget on the main screen, which appears when changing the content displayed on it.Revelation.

The "Moto sound" application also deserves great praise. When I took Motorola Edge from the box, one of the first tests was the speaker test, because Motorola praises them strongly in its marketing materials.I was disappointed at the first listening.

The speakers played dry and without expression. They were quite loud and detailed, but they lacked bass and general depth. It was similar with the headphone jack - it's nice that it is, but it plays straight from the box on average.

And then I entered the Moto Sound application, I was infly in the settings for the speakers and the headphone jack, and suddenly everything changed.Just slide the bass raising slider and slightly expand the surround sound to make phenomenal speakers from average speakers.

In the A/B test with iPhone 11, Motorola wins via knockout - provided that we spend a moment in changing the settings. The only small minus of the built -in graphic equalizer is the inability to make specific settings yourself. We only have a few presets to choose from, and you would like more.

The specification is not worthy of a flagship. But it's not bad either.

If someone when choosing a smartphone is guided only by numbers, probably immediately snort with disgust.Motorola Edge will cost PLN 2999 in Poland.

For PLN 2999, top specification can be expected.POCO F2 PRO MA SNAPDRAGON 865.Oppo Reno 3 Pro has 12 GB of RAM.Meanwhile, Motorola Edge has ... Snapdragon 765 5G, 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of data space. The whole is powered by a 4500 mAh battery with a quick charging of 15 W, without wireless charging.

Objectively, this is a poor specification for this price, or for a high price for this specification.Of course, the price is significantly raised by the unlocked 5G modem. If the new Motorola hit the market without this functionality, which means the need to obtain costly certification, it would certainly be a bit cheaper.

In practice, fortunately, this specification is quite sufficient. For almost a week of use, it has never happened that Snapdragon 765 was not enough for something or that I run out of operational memory.

I used the phone all the time with the screen "rigidly" at 90 Hz and I must say that at the beginning it caused some problems. The animations cut, scrolling pages was not perfectly smooth.I thought Snapdragon 765 couldn't do it, but it was enough to restore the phone to the factory settings so that everything would return to normal. After this one -off problem, Motorola behaved perfectly.

I cannot assess the battery performance yet, because I used the phone too short for definitive conclusions, but I can already see that it is a phone call for more than one day. Will I be able to get two full days out of it?I doubt. But for 100 percent.Energy is enough for a whole day with a large reserve for the next day.

With an opinion about the apparatus, I will refrain from a full review.

As the phone came to me before the premiere, it works under the control of the non -final version of the software, which, unfortunately, is most visible in the camera application. This one is constantly causing problems, jamming and jerking "when trying to take a photo. However, I was assured that the installation of a new version of the software will remove the problem.

I hope this is true, because Motorola Edge has a quite solid optical system:

Under no circumstances do I expect photos from Galaxy S20 Ultra or iPhone 11 from Motorola Edge, but I hope that I will keep the level presented by at least Oppo Reno 3 Pro or Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro.

Motorola Edge makes a phenomenal first impression.

Maybe partly because I have a weakness for this brand, I really liked Motorola Edge. From the first contact you can see that someone has really been on this project and the company knows well what rate is going on.Motorola is aware that by entering the higher shelf, you can't simply bump the correct smartphone and count on the sale. You have to give something more.

Nevertheless, it's hard not to get the impression that Motorola Edge will not have light on the market. The more powerful POCO F2 Pro costs PLN 2,500.Oppo Reno 3 - 2600 PLN.Even better OnePlus 8 - 3300 PLN.Not to mention how close to the iPhone 11 and Galaxy S20 the new Motorola was valued.

This phone is objectively spent too expensive and it will be the biggest difficulty with which he will face on the market.

Nevertheless ... Motorola Edge is great.Really great. And I am very happy that I will have the opportunity to use it for the next few weeks, and then pass it on the report.
